Peggy Piesche

peggypPeggy Piesche teaches German Studies with an emphasis on Woman’s and Africana Studies at Hamilton College. Her recent publications include: Museum. Space. History. New Political Tectonics (Museum. Raum. Geschichte: Neue Orte politischer Tektonik.), 2011; Weißsein. Die Notwendigkeit Kritischer Weißseinsforschung (Whiteness. The Necessity for a Critical Whiteness Studies), with Susan Arndt, 2011; Das Trauma der Schuld oder: Wie lässt sich koloniale Geschichte in einem postkolonialen Deutschland von heute denken?, 2012 (forthcoming). She has published on the development of modern subjectivity in the 18th century and the German ‘Bildungsroman‘ as well as on literature and representation of ethnic minorities in 20th century German Literature (blackface tradition in GDR-Films, multicultural images in GDR-Comics, black German women authors) and on critical race and whiteness studies. She has received grants from the Volkswagen Foundation and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for collaborative projects on Black Germans and Black Europeans.
