Folashade Ajayi

Making Diversity Work and Fight–Black political organizingin Germany

Folashade holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from Humboldt University Berlin where she is currently completing her MA with a focus on antidiscrimination policies and diversity mainstreaming following an intersectional approach. She expanded her knowledge in these fields with internships at Germany’s Federal Antidiscrimination Agency and the European Network Against Racism. Based in Berlin, she is a member of the Initiative Black People in Germany (ISD). In that role, she co-organized the first European Network Meeting for People of African Descent in 2014, which resulted in the formation of the European Network Against Racism (ENPAD). She represented the organization at various events in Brussels, Vienna and New York. Since 2013, Folashade is working as a student employee at Humboldt University’s department Diversity and Social Conflict where she gathers additional research experience. Furthermore, she is an elected member of Humboldt University’s staff committee. Folashade is a fellow of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and Humanity in Action, has lived in Germany, Belgium and South Africa and speaks German, English and French.
