AfricAvenir International e.V. belongs in BGHRA’s resources both as a Berlin cultural and educational organization and as a route into African-centered historical research. Its work links decolonial public education, film, publishing, historical memory, and exchange between Africa and Europe.
The Berlin association emerged from work connected to the AfricAvenir International Foundation in Douala, Cameroon, founded by Prince Kum’a Ndumbe III. The Berlin organization began as a student group at Freie Universität Berlin and was founded in 2000; it has been registered as a nonprofit association since 2004.
Berlin: programs and visits
The office is listed at Kameruner Straße 1, 13351 Berlin. Confirm event venues and visiting arrangements directly: an office address is not a promise of open exhibition hours. Its formats include dialogue forums, African film screenings, conferences, teacher training, workshops, and performances.

Research beyond Berlin
The foundation and its library are based in Bonabéri–Douala, Cameroon. They should be distinguished from the Berlin office. The foundation’s publishing and oral-history work can be explored online, including its work on colonial-era collections and restitution.
