Noah Sow

noahLost in Translation – Common North American Misconceptions about Black Germany

Noah Sow is a German author, artist, media personality, musician, playwright, actress, scholar and human rights activist. In 2001 she initiated the founding of “der braune mob e.V.”, Germany’s first Black media watchdog association, whose goals she is actively committed to as chairperson.

Her Book “Deutschland Schwarz Weiß” (C. Bertelsmann 2008) is based on her extensive experiences as an anti-racism activist and since its release has become a standard for the analysis of racism and critical whiteness in Germany.

Noah Sow is internationally active on music stages with her band „NOISEAUX,“ with many of her songs dealing with political issues.

Noah Sow’s lecture “Geteilte Geschichte” was the keynote at the inaugural convention of the Black German Heritage and Research Association: “Strengthening Transatlantic Connections” in Washington 2011.
