Deann Borshay Liem · Director / producer
Deann Borshay Liem revisits her adoption from South Korea to the United States and reunites with her Korean family.
Adopted by an American family in 1966, Liem grew up believing that she had no surviving family in Korea. Returning memories led her to investigate that account and reconnect with her Korean mother. This personal documentary brings her Korean and American families together while exploring racial identity, memory, loss and belonging.
Premiered at Sundance in 2000; broadcast by PBS’s POV.
