Liem investigates the identity substitution in her adoption records and searches for the Korean girl whose name she was given.
Before Liem was sent to the United States for adoption, her identity was replaced with that of another child, Cha Jung Hee. Returning to Korea to find the woman whose identity became her own, she examines adoption paperwork, family histories and the ethics of international adoption. The film continues the autobiographical inquiry begun in First Person Plural.
Directed, produced and written by Deann Borshay Liem; PBS POV broadcast in 2010.
